The Carolina Panthers have hired Forest Hills High School graduate Warren Belin as linebackers coach.
The Panthers will not announce the hire until Belin signs the contract. Belin has been the University of Georgia linebackers coach, and UGA spokesman Claude Felton confirmed on Thursday.
Belin worked for new Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott in 1998 on the William & Mary staff.
The 43-year-old Belin played at Wake Forest, graduating cum laude in 1990. He was a three-year starter at linebacker for the Demon Deacon, and twice made the ACC All-Academic Team.
Belin was Georgia's inside linebackers coach for one season. He joined the Bulldogs after spending eight seasons coaching the linebackers at Vanderbilt.
